Rise of The Silver Surfer In the sequel to the immensely popular “Fantastic Four”, “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” promises to deliver yet again. All the characters have returned, Jessica Alba AKA Sue Storm, Michael Chiklis AKA Ben Grimm, Ioan Gruffud AKA Reed Richards and Chris Evans AKA Johnny Storm. Even Dr. Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon) returns, with even more surprises in store for our crime fighting team.
The foursome quickly finds out that they are not special, another super-powered being has arrived, The Silver Surfer (Doug Jones), and with him an agenda to destroy the earth. All is not what it seems, when it turns out that The Silver Surfer is actually working for a being calling itself: Galactus. Galactus being the large planet eating monster that has chosen Earth for its next meal. In previous incarnations, the idea of Galactus as a super villain was rather silly. A cartoonish purple-helmeted giant. The filmmakers promised to make him more like recent incarnations, where he is a large group of robots.
The sequel to the first Fantastic Four promises all new thrills and all new action. Hopefully, since Dr. Doom will be returning for the sequel, they will better use his abilities. Dr. Doom his known for his fierce intelligence and cunning, and that was downplayed somewhat in the first movie.
As if an entire new set of earth destroying foes is not enough, the team must also cope with the return of Dr. Doom, whose own agenda is not exactly clear, but it proves to be dire. Having not one but two villains promises epic action of “Spider-Man” proportions. The former movie was actually considered one of the better comic book adaptations, with an engaging cast, and well delivered dialogue. The action sequences were fun and engaging, and the actors lend several dimensions to their characters, staying fairly true to the comic that the movie was based from.
